Mission Statement
CYSA invites the soccer community to share in what is a positive era of development in youth soccer. We aim to provide the best possible coaching instruction to our players so that they may develop into their full potential. We strive to create a positive team learning environment.
Philosophy
The CYSA philosophy promotes the advancement of players technically (skills), tactically (decision-making), psychologically and physically so they can enjoy the game for the rest of their lives. Our philosophy surrounds the individual player. Strong individual skill builds the confidence necessary to excel in match situations. As players grow and mature, they are equipped with a foundation as individuals which then transfer to teams’ success. By emphasizing the skill of the individual, positive team results will follow. Small-sided training is emphasized for maximum development within the team concept. We feel this philosophy creates not only good athletes but also well-rounded individuals.
CYSA provides team coaches, players and referees numerous opportunities to develop and enrich their soccer experience which include licensing and certification clinics for coaches and referees and camps and tournaments for players.
Goals and Values
CYSA values the following ideals
CYSA recognizes the concerns arising from the heavy emphasis placed on winning by American society. While the value of winning is understood in terms of developing a healthy competitive attitude and team spirit, it is less important than the overall objective of each child’s participation, development, and enjoyment. Winning soccer games is secondary to proper development until a player is at a competitive level and winning becomes more of a priority.
